Thousands Turn Out for South Carolina Gay Pride

Thousands turned out for the annual South Carolina Gay Pride in the state capital of Columbia on Saturday afternoon. Following the colorful parade through the city center streets, the celebration of diversity continued in Finlay Park with an afternoon of entertainment and 'awareness' projects. The Editor-in-Chief of UK Gay News was on hand at the SC gay pride festivities this weekend to find out if South Carolina is really 'So Gay' after all. The Board of the South Carolina Pride Movement has decided to raise the $5,000 necessary to pay the debt owed by the state for the 'South Carolina is so gay' ads created for London Gay Pride Week. SC Pride will launch their fundraising campaign on their website today with a banner proclaiming: South Carolina WILL BE ‘So Gay’.

Lambda Legal announced an agreement with Foot Locker, settling its antigay discrimination lawsuit against the company. Under the agreement, Foot Locker will train its managers and employees more aggressively about antigay harassment, including emphasizing to its employees access to support and services to handle such harassment.

Slap On The Wrist For GOP Aide After 'Fags' & 'Dykes' Email
GOP Senate candidate Jim DeMint is under fire for refusing to fire a key aide who referred to fags and dykes in an email. DeMint is running for the US Senate from South Carolina. The email stemmed from an invitation from the Central Savannah River Area Rainbow Alliance to speak at an Oct. 7 town hall meeting to discuss issues of interest to gay voters.

Foot Locker Stores Accused Of Gay Discrimination
A lawsuit was filed Tuesday accusing Foot Locker, Inc. of harassing and then firing a gay employee. The suit alleges that Kevin Dunbar, 26, suffered antigay harassment and discrimination at the hands of his coworkers, supervisors and customers.
